Following the success of our three District Sectional Camp at Home events we'd like to share a poem with you that Ruth Jones, one of our District Scout Leaders has written, which contains her thoughts and feelings on Scouting during Lockdown, which really sums up how we have all felt as a District Team and am sure it resonates with leaders across the groups. Thank you for sharing Ruth.

This morning Phoenix Explorers from Alsager, along with representatives from across Potteries North District, took part in a Zoom Campfire Night with Scouts and Venturas from Heathmont Scout Group and Adelaide Scout Group in Australia. During the session, which took place at 10:00am GMT, they participated in a range of activities, including a rendition of the Penguin Song, a group story and a truth or lies game. As the meeting drew to a close, we all shared what we enjoyed doing in Scouting. Activities included survival camps, rock climbing, igloo building, hiking and eating food. It was great for the two countries to meet up. Many thanks to Heathmont Scout Group for getting in touch - hopefully we will speak to them again in the future. ...

Even lockdown isn't stopping our Explorers continuing on their adventures. Since Easter they've been running virtual zoom meetings every Monday but this Saturday they've been involved in something extra special.

Morning All, over the past few weeks I have had the privilege of seeing many of you carrying on the scouting programme in very difficult circumstances. You should all be very proud of your efforts and I look forward to seeing and being part of many more of your adventures.

Keeping the spirit off scouting alive is one of the most important things we can do now and we will be back better and stronger in the future.

Keep up the good work

Proud District Commissioner

Our District Executive met virtually last night for the first time. The executive and District Team are still working hard on methods to support and facilitate virtual scouting throughout the groups - and also ensure the financial security for when we can return face to face.

They have also been discussing plans for our Annual General Meeting and how we can best collate our reports and try to accommodate some variation of online meeting in the summer.
